Asouso D/A JHS (Sene East) received free sanitary pad from PPAG
In a world where access to basic necessities can often be a challenge, the Plan Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) has emerged as a beacon of hope. Last year, the organization extended its noble mission to Sene East, and this year it conducted a remarkable initiative by donating free menstrual pads to adolescent girls at D/A Junior High School at Asouso. Led by the dedicated program coordinator, Mr. Fidaus, this effort aimed to alleviate the financial burden faced by adolescents girls who struggle to afford sanitary pads during menstruation. The occasion coincided with the worldwide celebration of Menstrual Hygiene Day, making it an even more meaningful event.
The initiative organized by PPAG in Sene East left an indelible impact on the lives of the young girls at D/A Junior High School in Asouso. Under the guidance of Mr. Fidaus, the program coordinator, the event aimed to empower the girls by ensuring their menstrual health and hygiene needs were met. By providing free pads, PPAG alleviated the financial burden experienced by many who cannot afford this essential item. The donation of menstrual pads not only addressed a basic necessity but also highlighted the organization's commitment to fostering the overall well-being and empowerment of young women.
Mr. Kenneth Akayite, the in-charge of the Asouso CHPS (Community Health and Planning Services) compound, played a pivotal role in the program. Alongside his staffs, they joined forces with PPAG to educate the students on the importance of using sanitary pads and practicing frequent changes to maintain personal hygiene. Through informative demonstrations, Mr. Fidaus showcased the correct method of using sanitary pads, ensuring that the girls understood the significance of proper usage. This educational component added tremendous value to the event, equipping the young girls with crucial knowledge about menstrual health management.
In addition to the menstrual pad donation drive, Mr. Akayite and the program coordinator seized the opportunity to address the topic of teenage pregnancy. Recognizing the vulnerability of adolescents during this stage of their lives, they encouraged the students to prioritize their education and future aspirations. By stressing the importance of studying hard and staying focused, they aimed to empower the girls to make informed choices and resist the challenges associated with early parenthood. As a token of appreciation for their engagement, Mr. Fidaus presented refreshing soft drinks, further highlighting the collaborative spirit of the event.
The head teacher, Mr. Asare Solomon, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the benevolence shown by Mr. Fidaus and the entire team. His sincere appreciation reflected the profound impact that such initiatives have on the lives of young girls and the community as a whole. This collaborative effort between PPAG and the local community in Sene East exemplifies the power of compassion and support in creating a brighter future for adolescent girls.
